Materials, engineering and production specialists ensure quality and efficient material selection, tooling, prototyping, set up and production. GANTT charts, which are regularly shared with customers and produced with Microsoft Project Manager, show prototyping, tooling, set up and sample runoff status. The industry standard Pre-Production Approval Process (PPAP) is used to control the quality of parts throughout the design and pre-production processes. For automotive parts, Baker Metal Products is certified and adheres to ISO/TS 16949:2002 specification requirements for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive related products.
The Baker Metal Products operator is using a hydraulic CNC bender for bending an extruded aluminum window frame part used in a bomb resistant military vehicle. Four of these CNC bending machines are located in work cells and used for tube bending and bending other parts. Tube End Forming, Sizing, Swedging and Swaging
Baker Metal Products tube fabrication capabilities include ram form machinery for sizing, reducing, enlarging and flaring steel tube and stainless steel tubular products. Before and after examples of an expanded and flared tube are shown in these photos along with a McKee Addison machine used for this tubular exhaust runner bending, forming and sizing manufacturing process. Ram forming machines allow round shapes to be formed into ovals. The before and after tubular parts show the ram formed oval applied to a bent and cut car engine manifold runner tube. Kaltenbach and KTM circular cold saws are used after ram forming to meet tubular profile tolerance. Baker Metal Products manufacturing and metal fabrication capabilities include up to 3/8" metal shearing and plasma cutting.
This precision welding jig is set up for spot welding an automobile manifold tube runner. Baker Metal Products offers a wide array of welding services to include GMAW [Gas MIG (metal Inert Gas) Arc Welding] and GTAW [Gas TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Arc Welding], aluminum welding, automatic rotary welding and sub-assembly welding.
Quality control check points are used throughout the manufacturing processes at Baker Metal Products. Received raw materials are measured for quality before the production process begins. Inspections are completed daily during the shift to assure that parts meet customer's specifications and requirements. Final inspections are done with 3rd party Certified Final Gauge measuring fixtures typical of the CMM (Coordinated Measuring Machine) shown in this photo.
Various styles of parts washing machines are used at Baker Metal Products. Pass through parts washers are used for large continual washing. Several batch parts washing machines are also available for tube fabrication and other manufacturing processes. Punching, Notching and Drilling
Baker Metal Products offers several tubes punching, notching and drilling manufacturing options. Cut tube sometimes needs to be deburred. Baker Metal Products uses vibratory deburring and other tubular deburring and finishing processes. Baker Metal Products sub-contracts powder coating with local vendors. Quick turnaround on powder coating jobs allows for final assembly, packaging and on-time shipping of products manufactured at Baker Metal Products.
